Struggling with Pastoral Award Compliance?
Pay arrangements can change throughout the year, particularly in farming where hours can look very different during seeding, harvest and quieter periods.
With pay arrangements needing to leave employees better off overall each pay period, checking a flat rate or salary once and putting it away for the year may not be enough.
To make these checks easier for eligible farming businesses, ProcessWorxAg has developed the BOOT Tool.
What is the BOOT Tool?
Farming hours don’t necessarily stay the same throughout the year.
An arrangement that passes the BOOT during one period may produce a different result when an employee works longer hours, additional overtime or a different pattern of work.
The BOOT Tool gives you the flexibility to test different scenarios as your operation changes, without having to come back to ProcessWorxAg for a new manual calculation every time.
This can be particularly useful when preparing for seeding or harvest, changing an employee’s hours or reviewing pay arrangements during the financial year.
Run Your Own BOOTs
Complete eligible BOOTs yourself using a guided step-by-step process, without needing to request a new manual BOOT each time.
Test Different Scenarios
Adjust hours and working patterns to check pay arrangements across different periods, including seeding, harvest and quieter times of year.
Get A Clear Result
See whether the arrangement passes or fails, identify where any shortfall occurs and download a report for your records.
Why use the BOOT Tool?
The BOOT Tool allows eligible employers to complete their own Better Off Overall Test (BOOT) checks for supported employees covered by the Broadacre and Livestock Operations Stream of the Pastoral Award.
Rather than requesting a new manual BOOT each time hours or working patterns change, you can enter the relevant pay arrangement and hours worked, work through a series of guided questions and see whether the arrangement passes or fails the BOOT.
If a shortfall is identified, the Tool shows where it has occurred and provides recommendations to help you address it. You can also download a report for your records.
Who Can Use the BOOT Tool?
The BOOT Tool currently supports eligible Farm Hand and Livestock Hand classifications under the Broadacre and Livestock Operations Stream of the Pastoral Award, including full-time, part-time and casual employees.
Not every employee or pay arrangement will be suitable for the Tool.
For example, you may also employ a junior, driver or another employee covered by different Award requirements. These arrangements may still require a manual BOOT completed by our HR team.
That’s why our package options allow for both. Where a client is eligible for the BOOT Tool, the Tool is included as part of the package, along with up to two additional manual BOOT scenarios where required.
For farming businesses that aren’t eligible for the Tool, we can continue to complete BOOT assessments manually.
